Leather Looking Mouldy?

Does your leather looks like this?:

That white haze looks like mould (mold as they say in the US),but it might not be mould at all. It might actually be wax that's condensed out of the leather.  This can happen if the strap or case has been stored somewhere that gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter, such as an attic.  This causes the added waxes and oils in the leather (used to soften the leather) to condense out onto the surface.  You can melt it off by gentle application of naked flame, such as from a stove lighter.

The wax will melt back into the leather.  Careful you don't melt the thread though - its nylon.   Alternatively, try hard rubbing so that the friction heat melts the wax back into the leather.
